Monteverdi Vespers

MONTEVERDI: Vespro Della Beata Vergine (1610)

With The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble and Norwich Baroque

Keswick Hall Choir are delighted to present a concert performance of Monteverdi’s 1610 setting of Vespers; an iconic work and a pillar of Baroque repertoire.

Written for St. Mark’s Venice, and on an ambitious scale for the time of writing, the Vespers only received its first modern performance in the 1930s. Keswick Hall Choir were the first ensemble to perform the Vespers in Norwich in 1970, and it is our privilege to do so again with the world famous English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, together with an array of young soloists and Choristers from St John’s Cathedral.

This performance, in the gothic splendour of Norwich’s Roman Catholic Cathedral will offer a memorable representation of this much-loved piece.

Directed by Daniel Justin.
