Concert details

The next concert, on 28th April 2012 in St Andrew's Hall, Norwich, is a performance of Handel's celebrated choral oratorio, Israel in Egypt. It boasts no fewer than twenty-two glorious choruses, many in eight parts. Recounting the story of the Israelites' deliverance at the Red Sea, with vivid descriptions of hailstorms and plagues of locusts, Handel's epic drama makes sustained demands on the choir, stretching to the limit its sense of theatre, virtuosity and sheer stamina. Supported by rich orchestration for the Academy of St Thomas to enjoy, including trumpets and trombones, the resulting score is one of the unparalleled dramatic brilliance, containing some of Handel's most inspired music. The choir is joined by soloists Nicki Kennedy & Rebecca Mundy (sopranos), Andrew Radley (countertenor) and Joshua Ellicott (tenor).

It promises to be quite an evening for conductor John Aplin to sign off from his thirty-year tenure at the helm of Keswick Hall Choir.

Tickets are available and cost £17, £14 and £8, students (up to 18 years) £6, accompanied children (up to 14 years) £4.
